Description

As part of the "McDonald's/NFL Kickoff Payoff" promotion, customers could win NFL Fantasy prizes, such as trips to Super Bowl XXVII, and McDonald's/GameDay trading cards featuring local NFL teams. Customers received a pull-tab game piece on packages of large and extra-large french fries, hash browns, 21- and 32-oz. soft drinks, and 16-oz. coffee. Every game piece won free food, an instant-win NFL Fantasy prize, or NFL Point Values of six (touchdown), three (field goal), or one (extra point). The Point Values could be collected and redeemed for trading cards or special discounts on merchandise. For ten points, customers received a six-card sheet at participating McDonald's restaurants while supplies lasted. Measuring approximately 2 1/2" by 4 3/4", the GameDay cards are similar to the regular issues, except that they have McDonald's logos on both sides, and on the backs are renumbered with a "McD" prefix. Three sheets make a complete team set. Most McDonald's restaurants in a region offered cards of the local NFL team(s). In addition, many restaurants offered an All-Star set of 18 NFL superstars. Each NFL team has 18 cards in total on three different sheets (A, B, and C). One sheet was distributed per week for three weeks during the promotion. The McDonald's 1993 Limited Edition Patriots Gameday 3-card set included: Ray Agnew, Bruce Armstrong, Vincent Brown, Eugene Chung, Marv Cook and Maurice Hurst on Sheet A (card 1 of 3); Pat Harlow, Eugene Lockhart, Greg McMurty, Scott Zolak, Leonard Russell and Andre tippett on Sheet B (card 2 of 3); and David Howard, Johnny Rembert, Jon Vaughn, Brent Williams, Scott Secules and Dre Bledsoe ( his rookie card ) on Sheet C (card 3 of 3).
